Obtaining a bone marrow aspirate from the sternum of a horse.

Bone marrow sample
Bone marrow aspiration or core biopsy can help to characterise anaemia or other blood disorders. Unlike other animals, it is difficult to determine if a horse is producing new red blood cells or not in response to anaemia. Our veterinarians are skilled in this procedure and with our Clinical Pathology Laboratory on site, we are able to get the samples processed quickly.
