Full ophthalmic examination
Our veterinarians are skilled in full examination of the equine eye. In addition, we also have a registered specialist in veterinary ophthalmology available to help with the diagnosis, treatment and management of more difficult conditions affecting the eye.
Slit lamp
The slit lamp is a microscope with a light attached that allows examination of an eye under high magnification. This instrument is primarily used to view the anterior structures of the eye such as the cornea, iris, and lens. However, with special lenses, it is possible to examine the vitreous and the back of the eye as well.
The instrument’s name is derived from its adjustable light beam. By changing the width of the beam, the veterinarian can gather important detail about each eye structure. eyeproblems
