Radiology (X-rays)
Our hospital is fully equipped with several X-ray machines.
Due to the large size of the horse, most X-ray machines
are limited to X-rays of the bones of the lower legs. However,
the X-ray machines at Massey University enable us to also
visualise the bones of the head, neck, spine, shoulders,
stifles, and even the pelvis of a horse. We are also able
to X-ray a horse’s lungs, which can prove to be invaluable
when evaluating a horse with possible pneumonia, potential
“bleeders” and horses with a chronic cough.
We have very experienced radiography
staff enabling us to obtain high quality X-rays.
