High-speed Treadmill
Our high-speed treadmill enables us to evaluate horses with “wind” problems during exercise (e.g. roarers) and horses that are performing poorly. Endoscopy of a horse’s upper airway during high-speed treadmill exercise is often the only way to confirm the cause of upper airway noise. We are able to video record the endoscopy for later viewing enabling us to better explain the problem to you.
Poor performance can be due to subtle lameness, heart arrhythmias, impaired lung function, and wind problems. The high-speed treadmill enables us to carefully investigate all these possible causes of poor performance in equine athletes.
While the idea of putting a horse on a treadmill may seem frightening, most horses accept and learn how to run on a treadmill after only 2-3 training sessions.
